Been busy living....

I've been feeling so guilty its been 2 whole weeks (and some) since I've blogged. But do you know what? I've been too busy living. Living in this awesome city where the sun shines (but not too hot), where every bite of food is amazing, where the roads are flaaaaat, where old friends make your heart burst with contentment, where there is so much space, and green, and blue, where dogs can run free, where the air is clean, where banana bread rocks, where people understand what I'm saying, where my name is what it is and not some broken Chinglish version (typically Nimjer or something of the like), where birds chirp, where people smile and say hello on the street......where life is just bloody amazing.

I've got another week left here before heading back to Honkers, and I'm surprisingly ok about heading back there this time. I know Sydney will be home some day soon and I know a little while longer in HK will make life in Sydney just that much easier later on. And I know fo' sure that I'm going to appreciate the hell out of living here when we do ;)

Here are a few snaps from the past 2 weeks.....

I've cracked the 28 week baby mark and am feeling great. I've been rather partial to an early afternoon cat-nap, and am starting to feel the old gluteus maximus and piriformis straining under the pressure - but thankfully there's not a varicose vein or a dirty hemorrhoid in sight. Snap!

(Pardon the open toilet shots below, but fitting considering I spend rather a lot of time there)....

Hope you're past few weeks have been as good as mine!!

I'm off for some MORE banana bread.
Snap ;)

Bump: 26 weeks

Can you believe it? 6 and a half months gone. Just like that. Only 14 weeks to go! Since I last posted a pic of the bump, I feel like I've at least doubled in size. I probably haven't but I certainly feel it. I keep getting told that I'm "massive" which is obviously saying something. Ah well, if not when you're up the duff then when, eh?

The little one was measured the other day and surprise surprise, he's going to be a giant! Perhaps a reason for me and my mahoosiveness ;) Just like his ma and pa. His little femurs were above average in length so looks like we're going to have one loooong little baby. Let's just hope tall doesn't equate to heavy. Watermelon through a pin-hole remember....

I am now at the stage of having the delightful sensation of skin-on-skin (SOS), a phenomenon I've not really encountered before considering the size (or lack thereof) of my pre-pregnancy ta-tas. Oh yes, sitting down in any position now gives me the SOS sensation (aka breasts on bump) that I have to say I don't dig at all. It really doesn't feel good. I'm constantly tucking my tops under by boobs so I don't have to feel it. Lift and tuck. Lift and tick. Not noice people.

It's my first wedding anniversary this weekend. Sunday in fact. What am I doing with my delightful husband you might ask? Is he whisking me off to a beautiful restaurant to wine and dine me and reminisce on that special day 12 months ago? Has he planned a weekend getaway? Are we just going to take the day to actually be together all day?

Yeah right.

Phil is going to be on the lash with about 30 of his mates in New Zealand, crooning over the Rugby World Cup semi-final - Aus vs NZ. Can you feel the love? Romance is clearly his strong point.

As a result, I'm off to Sydney for 3 weeks. Pretty good result if you ask me! I've got lots of great things on; wedding dress shopping with one of my nearest and dearest friends, a trip to her country town for a few days to hang on her beautiful property with her beautiful family, a great friend's hens, another great friend's wedding (Phil is joining me for this!) and my dad's 60th birthday! I can't wait to hang with the fam, my friends, let them feel the kicks I feel all day long, eat some good ol' Aussie banana bread, have a bbq, cuddle my dog and just soak up everything I love about my home town.

This is the last time I'm going to be able to fly, the last chance I'll get to see my family and friends before I have my baby, and the last chance ever to be in Sydney, just me. I'm going to soak it up while I can but I tell you what....I am bursting to bits to meet this little baby of mine! I think about him 24/7 and just cannot wait to have that first cuddle. To smell that newborn smell and feel that newborn skin. And know that we made him and he is ours....

Content much? ;)

See you on the other side in Sydney!

Time to clean up my act

Image
All of a sudden, I'm six and a half months pregnant. I'm starting to have many a 'holy shit' moment, when I realise just how much needs to be done and just how much needs to be bought and just how much needs to be organised before this baby arrives. Deep breaths....

These past few days I've finally started attacking what is soon to be the baby's room. Currently, the room has multiple functions such as study/dressing room/wardrobe/shoe cupboard and general junk-that's-got-nowhere-else-to-go room. It's by far my least favourite room in the house but after this magical transformation (fingers crossed), I'm hoping it will soon become my most favourite room. I mean, how can it not be, my little baby is going to live in there ;)

First problem is, there's just so much stuff, also known as crap that I've uncovered. It's not particularly useful or functional or fun crap, just more that run-of-the-mill crap that you can't really throw out because at some point it might serve some form of useful purpose. Mostly, it consists of paperwork, lots of paperwork; research papers from my masters, investment reports of Phil's, magazine tear-outs about HK, paperwork from some freelance jobs, my interiors scrapbook....you get the drift. My second problem? What the hell to do with it all. The entire room needs to be cleared out, so all the stuff is going to have to live in the spare bedroom. It's just we don't have any storage in there at the moment and I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to put everything!

Part of me thinks, get vicious. Think rubbish bin central. But inevitably I throw out important things without realising it, like that time Phil's birth certificate accidentally went missing....ooops. The other part thinks Ikea. But that scares me equally as much....

I was actually hoping I might be able to get some advice from all you mums out there who have no doubt done all this before! Have you got any kick-ass storage solutions for me? How do you store all your paperwork? Know any websites with pretty photos that might give me some inspiration??

Yours in anticipation ;)

The Inventor

I'm sitting here in a cafe, wondering how I can come close to adequately paying tribute, in words, to the great man Steve Jobs. Unlike his momentous speech, I can't come up with anything that I think does the occasion, or the man, justice. But I think the MacBook Pro on my lap, and the iPhone 4 at my side say it all. You changed our lives for the better Steve. We can't thank you enough.

Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things. And the reason they were able to do that was that they’ve had more experiences or they have thought more about their experiences than other people.”

Little brown love

I do tend to go on and on and on about my love of all things France, particularly Paris. And hate to tell you, but I'm not about to stop ;) The other day I bought this beautiful Paris 2012 calendar from the etsy store one of my favourite blogs, Little Brown Pen

Nichole's amazing space captures the beauty of Paris in all its glory, like no other I've seen. Make sure you have some tissues nearby, because trust me, you'll be drooling. She takes the most amazing photos, mostly grouped by splashes of colour which although sounds so simple, is just so damn beautiful.  You can buy the images separately or in calendar as per moi and the pics above!

Check out her blog and her etsy store. Trust me, you will not be disappointed....

I love discovering new blogs (particularly of the French variety!). Have you got any must-sees for me?
